  • On February 6, 1945, the men were told to get ready to leave the POW camp. They left camp on foot marching for 86 days, covering from 400-600 miles. They were split into groups of 250. They had no planned shelter or food. They slept in barns and open hayfields and had to eat whatever they could find or barter from the guards and civilians.
