- (May 13, 1944 - September 12, 2021) Fred was buried with a full Military funeral at the New Albany National Cemetery located in New Albany, IN.

- He started as a demolitions expert and sharpshooter, and then transferred to being an engineer. He would go in and build bridges, bases, communication towers, roads and then would destroy them once they were finished being used so that the enemy could not use them. He operated all forms of construction equipment such as bulldozers and dump trucks.
- He saw a lot of things during his time in Vietnam. He was proud that he saved a Vietnamese woman from an explosion. He grabbed her and carried her out of the building before it exploded.
- He was able to serve along side his Uncle Bill while in Vietnam. His uncle was the one that picked him up upon his arrival.
- He never took R&R. He kept at it the entire time he was stationed in Vietnam, so that he could get home sooner. He came home on Christmas without telling anyone. He took a cab home to surprise everyone.
- He was awarded the Sharpshooter medal Rifle E-14, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 1960, and the Good Conduct Medal.
